I’ve been rolling an idea around in my head for quite some time. I want to write a romance novel. Writers know that the market is huge. People can’t get enough of these novels. Most importantly, I just think it would be a fun challenge. I think the process could teach me a lot about my own strengths and weaknesses as a writer.
But romances are notoriously formulaic. In fact, Harlequin lays out very specific rules for each of its imprints. This is actually pretty helpful because…well…I don’t know a lot about romance novels.
After years of chewing on the idea of writing a romance I came up with another idea: I decided I should share my journey on the road to becoming a romance writer. Yep, I’m going to blog about it.
I promise that if you stick with me you’ll learn a lot about the writing process, but this will also be fun for non-writers. It’s always exciting to watch someone who has NO IDEA what they are doing try to master something. I could fall off the high-wire at any moment. And hopefully, by the end, you’ll be so fully invested in the final product that you’ll actually want to read it.
